After Mother Theresa won the Nobel Peace Prize, she visited Washington, DC . While there she was invited to a tea in her honor by an admiral and his wife and attended by the Navy’s top officials and their wives. The enlisted man served everyone their tea, sandwiches, and cakes then stood by. Seeing that he had nothing while everyone else was eating, Mother Theresa stood up, gave her tea and sandwich to the young man, and returned to her seat. She looked the hostess in the eye and said, “I’ll eat after everyone else has had something.” One of the admiral’s wives burst into tears.
Here is to all the qualities Mother Theresa embodied: humility, charity, and grace.
